Possibilities

One of the new things we're trying to do for 2008, alongside with bringing in what we think is the best new music, is opening a little window on things we think might also be important... but are sometimes too chicken to shelve until we receive positive re-enforcement from you the faithful customer. Here are a few examples of things either just released or upcoming that we can bring in... but are on the fence about. Let us know if you'd like any of these.

(January 29th)
+The Helio Sequence - Keep Your Eyes Ahead (Sub Pop)
Blood Bleeds.mp3

(January 29)
+Vampire Weekend - S/T (XL)
Cape Cod Kwasa Kwasa Kwasa.mp3

Just a couple of choices for now... to get your ears wet.

If there's anything you don't see us bringing in but would like... the special order is both of our friends. What's more it doesn't cost a thing (except the price of the album of course).

Inquire away.

01 Arcade Fire - Neon Bible (Merge)
02 Feist - Reminder (A&C)
03 Shins - Wincing the Night Away (Sub Pop)
04 Modest Mouse - We Were Already Dead... (Epic)
05 Julie Doiron - Woke Myself Up (Endearing)
06 Besnard Lakes - Are the Dark Horse (Outside)
07 Animal Collective - Strawberry Jam (Domino)
08 Iron & Wine - The Shepherd's Dog (Sub Pop)
09 Joel Plaskett - Ashtray Rock (Maple)
10 Caribou - Andorra (Merge)
11 Panda Bear - Person Pitch (Paw Tracks)
12 Liars - S/T (Mute)
13 Of Montreal - Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? (Polyvinyl)
14 Okkervil River - The Stage Names (Jagjaguwar)
15 Beirut - Flying Club Cup (BaDaBing)
16 Blonde Redhead - 23 (4AD)
17 Deerhoof - Friend Opportunity (Kill Rock Stars)
18 The National - Boxer (Beggars Banquet)
19 Weakerthans - Reunion Tour (Anti-)
20 Shotgun and Jaybird - Trying to Get Somewhere (Sappy)

One surprise was to see how many copies of The Liars we'd sold. It's not like the album had much of a profile but for whatever reason Fredericton seems to be a hotbed for the band. Maybe they should play Nicky Zee's?

The other surprise was how few copies the Jill Barber album we'd sold. After the e.p. went nuts for us the previous year you'd think the album would do even better... but perhaps she was swept away in the avalanche that was Feist, Jenn Grant, Rebekka Higgs et. al.
